Hero image for the Alph Hypertext System Project Web site
Alph Stuff Digital

My biggest non-illustration project is a hypertext system based on Ted Nelson's Xanadu, called Alph. Click the link and check out the Web site if you're into that sort of thing.

The Web site has a lot of little explainer articles on it with an admittedly spartan style. I've begun adding some illustrations to make things a bit more fun. For example, here's Foo, the smart media resource, to help you understand the conceptual model of how resources behave on the server:

Foo, a smart media object, introduces himself.Foo can deliver his media payload.
Foo can provide information about themself.Foo can also tell you what they're connected to.

Here's how Foo learns about his place in the network:

The Docuplextron gives Foo some useful information.
Foo confirms and records the useful information.

Here's a simple animation that illustrates the hyperlink-following mechanic on the World Wide Web.

And an animation illustrating the xanalogical data model.

This is an active project, so there will certainly be additions to this page as I continue to work on the documentation.
