Todd Packer digital (Krita, Adobe Animate)

I very briefly worked at East Side Games in 2022. While I was there I got to do one character design, even though it wasn't really in my job description, which was a welcome change from what I had been doing up to that point.

The game was The Office: Somehow We Manage. There's a character in NBC's The Office named Todd Packer, a boorish and performatively macho traveling salesman, played by David Koechner. The team were writing him into the game, but they didn't have the rights to use the actor's likeness. So, they needed a non-likeness Todd Packer.

The initial concepts. Not too worried at this point about matching the game style perfectly; just exploring head shapes, haircuts, facial features, etc.

The moustache concepts seemed to work for my art lead, so I produced a tighter spread of variations, and nudged everything closer to the game style. The figures flanking this set of heads are production assets for the game, to provide some style/scale reference.

For the last round of concepts, a rough figure is included for the first time, and the heads were executed in Adobe Animate, which is how all of the game art was being produced.

It was right at this point that ESG and I parted ways, so I never got to see this through. But, hey, at least I got a nice work sample out of the deal!
